In May of 2013, a dedicated group of students, faculty, and staff from Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and The University of Arizona began developing Arizona’s first student-run clinic for vulnerable populations. This service-learning program was named the Student Health Outreach for Wellness (SHOW) Community Initiative.

Today, we have served over 1400 individuals from vulnerable populations including individuals experiencing homelessness, individuals from low income communities, and individuals recovering from substance use.

Passion for Health. Compassion for People.

SHOW provides a holistic range of services to vulnerable populations in the greater Phoenix area such as individuals experiencing homelessness, individuals from low income communities, and individuals recovering from substance use disorders. Our current range of services include:

1.

Health Education

Programs

2.

Hotspotting

3.

Street Medicine -

Phoenix

We provide weekly health education programs to our clients, educating them about everything from mental health to foot and ankle care.

Starting in Fall 2019, in collaboration with Maricopa Integrated Health System, we will serve high utilizers of our healthcare system.

Using a street-based care model, we will provide acute medical care to individuals experiencing homelessness in the streets of Downtown Phoenix.

Obstacles to health care access represent a profound national problem that grows worse each year. Despite ever-more innovative technologies and advances, more and more Americans are left behind or at risk. These people are our friends and neighbors, our co-workers and their families, our parents and even ourselves. They are essential parts of our communities, where the health of one directly or indirectly affects the health of all.”

Former Governor of Oregon
