Class 1: HCR/CRD 471: Interprofessional Education & Community Health

Course Description: The community-engaged experiential learning course exposes students to community health and interprofessional education. Through the development and delivery of team-based health promotion services in collaboration with vulnerable populations and community partners, students build on their professional practice skills as they develop interprofessional and group management competencies.

Health Promotion Activities

Spring 2021

In Spring 2021, our students teamed up with community partners Ability360, Crossroads East, Daring Adventures, Foundation for Senior Living (FSL), and the H.E.A.R.T Center to deliver health promotion/education service activities to 250 clients!

Topics and activities included nutrition, yoga, mindfulness/meditation, music therapy, neuropsychology, story telling, painting, exercise and wellness... and so much more!

Fall 2020

Students teamed up with community partners Justa Center, Crossroads East, La Frontera EMPACT, and St. Vincent de Paul to deliver health promotion/education service to over 100 clients throughout the semester!

Our in person teams, Justa Center and SVDP, worked to provide a "washing of the feet" foot clinic and fun arts and crafts activities to those experiencing homelessness in the Phoenix community.  Our online teams, Crossroads and EMPACT, hosted live sessions with topics centered on mindfulness/stress relief, exercise and wellness, nutrition, and budgeting.

Spring 2020

Students teamed up with community partners Ability360, Foundation for Senior Living (FSL), and the ASU Collaborative at the Westward Ho to deliver health promotion/education service activities!
